The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially unveiled the technical team that will lead the country’s U-17 women’s national team into the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Sierra Leone is set to face Ivory Coast in a decisive two-legged encounter scheduled for April, as preparations intensify ahead of the crucial fixtures.

According to the SLFA, the appointments take immediate effect in line with the association’s regulations and form a key part of efforts to strengthen the team’s technical and administrative capacity.

Fatmata Turay has been named Head Coach of the side, supported by Assistant Coach Mohamed Bah. Tejan L. Fornah will serve as Goalkeeper Coach, while Mariatu Jende Koroma takes on the role of Welfare Officer. Fatmata Kallon has been appointed Team Medic, with Jestina Sowa serving as Media Officer.

The SLFA stated that the composition of the technical team reflects its commitment to professionalism and holistic player development, covering technical guidance, welfare, medical support, and media engagement.

The appointment of Fatmata Turay as Head Coach also highlights the growing role of women in leadership positions within Sierra Leone’s football landscape.

In its statement, the association congratulated the appointees and called on Sierra Leoneans to rally behind the team as they begin their qualification campaign. It emphasized the importance of national support as the team prepares to take on Ivory Coast in what is expected to be a competitive encounter.
