Sierra Leonean gospel rapper Benson has jumped on the trending Sal Vibz, a signature sound introduced by entertainment ambassador Kao Denero, blending hip-hop and gospel in a unique and powerful way.

Benson Da Gospel Rapper’s Wordplay, metaphor and delivery can match any mainstream Rapper in Sierra Leone.

He has made his mark on the riddim with a gospel freestyle titled “God and the Culture”, delivering spiritually uplifting lyrics over the infectious beat. The track showcases Benson’s ability to merge faith-driven messages with contemporary rhythms, capturing the attention of both gospel enthusiasts and mainstream music lovers across Sierra Leone.

Born on 17th May 1998 in Freetown, Benson grew up in Kenema and attended Saint Charles Lwanga Primary School and Holy Trinity Secondary School. He is a graduate with BSC Hons. In Computer Science from Njala University. His journey into music ministry began at the age of 12 at The Door Christian Fellowship Church in Kenema, laying the foundation for his career in gospel rap.

Benson first gained national recognition as the only rapper in the Vocal Drift Inspire competition, a national solo singing contest. His distinctive style has earned him multiple award nominations, including Best Gospel Artist at the Black Achievement Awards and Best Gospel Hip-hop Minister of the Year at the Sierra Leone National Gospel Awards.

The Sal Vibz is a signature tune initiated by Kao Denero in consultation with key entertainment stakeholders to give Sierra Leone a distinct musical identity. The sound blends traditional Sierra Leonean genres such as bubu and kaylain, reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage.

Since its introduction, several top Sierra Leonean artists, including Samza, Bakitenno, Jakey Jake, Speedo’o, and Mawings, have released tracks using the sound. Produced by Mic Junho, Sal Vibz has quickly become a trending sensation, with more musicians signaling their intent to join the movement.

By incorporating Sal Vibz into his music, Benson is not only expanding his gospel repertoire but also contributing to a growing cultural phenomenon that celebrates Sierra Leonean music and identity.
