A violent attack at a community-owned school in Masorie, Waterloo, has reportedly left a teacher severely injured and sparked fear among residents, with local leaders accusing a former political figure of orchestrating the assault.
According to report, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at the Khulafai Rashideen Islamic Primary and Secondary School, where unidentified thugs reportedly stormed the premises, disrupting classes and attacking staff.

Village Headman H.M. Yusuf alleged that the assault was led by former Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Western Area Rural District Chairman, Habib Thop. Yusuf made the accusation in the immediate aftermath of the incident, calling for urgent action from authorities.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that one of the attackers, identified as Augustine Sesay, used a machete to strike the school’s vice principal, causing serious injuries.
According to local accounts, Sesay is also believed to be among those who escaped during the November 26, 2023 Pademba Prison break, although this claim has not yet been independently confirmed by authorities.

Deputy Chairman Augustine Kamara confirmed the timing of the attack and described the situation as alarming, noting that the invasion of a school environment has heightened concerns about safety in the community.
Community leaders have since called for an immediate and thorough investigation, as well as increased security presence in the area to prevent further violence. Residents, expressing anger and fear, have vowed to defend their community against future attacks.
Police in Waterloo responded to the incident and have arrested one suspect identified as Arata. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack and to identify all those involved.
At the time of reporting, there has been no official statement from the accused former chairman, and police have not yet confirmed any formal charges linked to the allegations made by community members.
