Magistrate Julia Mary Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown has committed the case of Fatamata Mansaray to the High Court for continuation of trial on allegations of child stealing.

According to police, the incident allegedly occurred in February 2026 at Kroo Bay, Freetown, where the accused is alleged to have stolen a nine-month-old baby from the child’s biological mother.

The accused, Fatamata Mansaray, appeared before Magistrate Gbloh to answer to one count charge of child stealing, contrary to Section 56 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

When the charge was read and explained to her in court, the accused pleaded not guilty.

During the proceedings, Magistrate Gbloh questioned the accused about the whereabouts of the missing child, but she declined to respond.

In her ruling, Magistrate Gbloh stated that she had carefully reviewed the evidence presented by the prosecution and was satisfied that the accused has a case to answer.

The prosecution tendered several exhibits before the court, including a photograph of the child, the complainant’s statement, the voluntary caution statement of the accused, and the charge statement.

Based on the evidence presented, Magistrate Gbloh committed the matter to the High Court.

The matter is being prosecuted by Sergeant 3001 Frances Lamin.
