The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Abdul Kargbo, has dismissed claims made by the Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education regarding the position of the All People’s Congress (APC) during the recently concluded mediation process.

In a written statement, Kargbo said he had reviewed a video in which the Deputy Minister alleged that the APC proposed that a Ghanaian national should head the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone.

He described the assertion as “entirely inaccurate,” maintaining that the APC did not, at any point during the mediation, make such a proposal.

Kargbo further urged the Deputy Minister to consult members of the Government’s own delegation who participated in the mediation process in order to verify the facts.

The opposition lawmaker also expressed concern over what he described as the spread of misinformation by a senior government official, warning that such claims could undermine public trust and negatively impact ongoing national discourse.

He noted that statements of this nature risk affecting the credibility of sensitive political engagements, particularly those aimed at fostering consensus and stability in the country’s democratic processes.
