The President of the Lawyers’ Society, Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah, Esq., represented the Society at the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU ECOSOCC) High-Level Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on “Reimagining a Just and Resilient Democracy.”
The event, held at Sierra Palms Hotel in Freetown, brought together key stakeholders from across the governance spectrum, including representatives of the judiciary, electoral management bodies, civil society organisations, and governance practitioners.
The dialogue provided a platform for participants to reflect on current democratic challenges and propose innovative approaches to strengthening inclusive governance systems across Africa.
The Lawyers’ Society, widely regarded as a prominent pressure group, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rule of law, accountability, and democratic governance through active engagement in both national and continental policy discussions.
Marrah’s participation highlighted the Society’s continued efforts to contribute its legal expertise to critical governance discourse, while also fostering partnerships aimed at enhancing citizen participation, institutional integrity, and the resilience of democratic systems in Sierra Leone and beyond.
The AU ECOSOCC initiative forms part of broader continental efforts to encourage collaborative solutions toward building transparent, inclusive, and sustainable democratic institutions.
