The Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kamakwie Police Division, Superintendent John S. Koroma, on Monday, 18th May 2026, engaged stakeholders of Tambaka Simibugie Chiefdom at Samaya Town as part of efforts to popularise the concept of community-oriented policing.

Addressing community members during the meeting, Superintendent Koroma educated the gathering on the transformation process of the Sierra Leone Police from a force to a service-oriented institution. He emphasised the importance of community participation in maintaining peace and security within the chiefdom.

The LUC admonished residents to uphold their roles and responsibilities as law-abiding citizens and cautioned them to channel grievances through the appropriate legal processes. He further encouraged community members to live in unity and harmony, urging them to be their “brother’s keeper”.

Superintendent Koroma also appealed for continuous community support through effective information sharing on security-related issues, noting that such cooperation is vital for the maintenance of law and order in the chiefdom.

Present at the meeting were the Regional Director of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) North, Mr Alhaji Umarr; the Provincial Secretary North, Mr Augustine Kennie Forbbie; the Regional Commissioner North ECSL; and the ECSL Manager for Karene District, Mr Steven Sallu Kabba.

The officials made statements relating to the process of electing a Paramount Chief.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the Sierra Leone Police to strengthen collaboration with communities and stakeholders across the country.
