President Julius Maada Bio has spoken out against abusive language directed at his mother, stating that he will not respond to the attacks but will instead leave the matter to God.

Speaking during Eid prayers at State Lodge, Bio emphasized his refusal to engage with his detractors, citing religious teachings as his guide. Referencing biblical principles of restraint and divine justice, Bio stated that individuals are instructed to leave retaliation to a higher power when they are wronged or insulted.

“All those who are abusing my mum, I will not respond because God is the biggest judge,” Bio told the gathered attendees. “I leave my case to God as He will judge them.”

Beyond his personal faith, President Bio framed the insults as a broader societal issue. He asserted that insulting another person’s mother is fundamentally unacceptable in his culture and reflects a deep-seated disrespect for women in general.

He warned that individuals who engage in such behavior demonstrate a severe lack of regard for the women in their own families. Speaking candidly about the nature of the insults, the President noted that attacking a woman one does not even know is an affront to all women.

Addressing the youth and his critics directly, the President remarked:

“You who were born of a mother, yet you curse a mother. Something is wrong with you. That is why I don’t respond to them, because I know that God is the greatest judge, only that we mortal men do not have patience. You who curse my mother whom you do not know, I will not respond to you. That person shows that he does not respect his mother, he does not respect his sister, or any woman on earth. I don’t encourage any young person to do so.”
