The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has announced that it will provide crucial logistical support to the Electoral Commission of Guinea to facilitate Guinea’s upcoming Legislative and Municipal Elections for Guinean nationals residing in Sierra Leone.

The announcement, released in an official press statement from the ECSL headquarters at Tower Hill, Freetown, states that the collaboration is being executed through the Guinea Embassy in Sierra Leone.

The elections are scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday, May 31, 2026.

According to the ECSL, this cooperative effort aligns directly with the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC) agreement. This regional framework was signed by sister Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) across the Western African sub-region to foster mutual support and ensure seamless democratic processes for diaspora citizens.

To clear up any misconceptions regarding the extent of foreign involvement, the ECSL clarified that its assistance is strictly operational. The support period began on Friday, May 29, 2026, and will conclude on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

The commission’s involvement is explicitly limited to providing:

 Logistical vehicles

 Designated drivers

Access to nine (9) Voting Centres and ten (10) voting stations across the country.

To accommodate eligible voters, the ECSL has established voting stations across several provincial and urban districts. In the southern and eastern regions, registered citizens can vote at the ECSL Offices located at Government Reservation in both Bo and Kenema, or at the UMC Boys Primary School on Pimbi Lane in Koindu City, Kono. In the northern regions, stations are open at PC Marrah’s Compound in Kabala Town, 1 Sow Drive in the Timbo Section of Makeni, and the Arabic school off Bangura Mosque in Kambia 11.

Voters residing in the Western Area can access Pastor Bah’s Compound 55 in Waterloo for the Western Rural district. For the Western Urban district, two locations have been designated to handle the voter turnout: the Fula Mosque at K Step in Calaba Town, and the Mafa Field on Regent Road in Lumley.

The ECSL emphasizes that these measures are in place to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and accessible voting environment for all eligible Guinean voters within Sierra Leonean borders.
