The Orange Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, has officially launched a landmark development initiative with the sod-turning ceremony for the Orange Foundation Village at Felei Tech City in Jorborhun Village, Tikonko Chiefdom, Bo District on Friday 29 May 2026.
The project, which positions the Orange Foundation at the forefront of community transformation, will deliver a Digital and Innovative Educational Learning Facility alongside a modern Medical Centre, aimed at expanding access to technology-driven education and quality healthcare in rural Sierra Leone.

The ceremony, brought together key stakeholders, including the Orange Sierra Leone CEO, government officials, traditional leaders, development partners, and community members, highlighting strong collaboration in advancing inclusive development and digital transformation.
Speaking at the event, Director of the Orange Foundation, Annie Wonnie Katta, described the initiative as a high-impact investment in people and communities, particularly young people. She noted that the project, expected to be completed within 12–18 months, reflects Orange Foundation’s ongoing commitment to education, innovation, and sustainable development across Sierra Leone.

Orange Sierra Leone CEO, Aicha Toure, reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to empowering communities through strategic social investments. She emphasized that Orange Foundation continues to prioritise initiatives that enhance livelihoods, create opportunities, and strengthen national development outcomes.
The significance of the project was widely echoed by stakeholders.
Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Hon Salima Monorma Bah, commended the Orange Foundation for its continued partnership with Government, noting that the project aligns with national priorities to expand access to technology, innovation, education, and healthcare services.

Local leadership also welcomed the initiative. The Paramount Chief of Tikonko Chiefdom Joe Kangbai Macavoray and the Bo District Council Chairman, Victor Kosseh Hindowa, both described the project as a transformative milestone that will improve access to essential services, particularly for youth, women, and underserved populations.
CEO of Tech City, Mr. David Felei, expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation and the Orange Foundation for partnering with Tech City to bring meaningful development to Jorborhun Village. He stated that the facility will serve as a centre for innovation, learning, creativity, and empowerment for young people and future generations.

In addition to the groundbreaking, the Orange Foundation demonstrated its strong community focus by donating learning materials to over 100 pupils and students, including school bags, exercise books, and mathematical sets, a gesture warmly received by beneficiaries and residents.
Once completed, the Orange Foundation Village is expected to serve as a hub for innovation, learning, and healthcare delivery, significantly improving access to essential services while reinforcing the Foundation’s role as a key driver of digital inclusion and community development in Sierra Leone.
