The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), in collaboration with the World Bank and other partners, has commenced a two-week Mid-Term Assessment Mission for the Food System Resilience Program (FSRP) to review progress and strengthen implementation.
The mission will assess achievements, identify challenges, and set priorities for the remaining phase of the programme, while also guiding future agricultural investments in Sierra Leone.
Key stakeholders involved include MAFS, the World Bank, SLARI, NaFFSL, NaFRA, SLeMET, NWRMA, NDMA, and other development partners.

The review will examine project deliverables, lessons learned, and institutional coordination, with a focus on addressing barriers to food system resilience and improving agricultural productivity.
Agriculture Minister Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka noted that the FSRP has strengthened key institutions, enabling them to support farmers through improved technologies, water management, and early warning systems.

FSRP Task Team Leader Dr. Adetunji Oredipe emphasized the importance of open discussions and a detailed assessment to improve food security and farmer incomes.
The first week of the mission will be held in Freetown for technical discussions, while the second week will involve field visits to assess the programme’s impact on farming communities.
