The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) has started training selected government ministries and agencies on the new e-GP bidding system, a key step in digitising Sierra Leone’s public procurement.

The training forms part of the phased implementation of the national e-GP system, an initiative aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, accountability, and value for money in public procurement across the country.

To ensure effective participation and hands-on learning, the pilot MDAs have been divided into two groups. The first group is undergoing training from June 22 to 23, while the second group will participate from June 24 to 25.

The intensive sessions are designed to equip participants with the practical skills and knowledge required to manage bid and tender submissions electronically through the Salone e-GP platform. Trainees will be guided through the full procurement workflow, enabling them to conduct procurement activities in a secure, transparent, and efficient digital environment.

According to the NPPA, the Bid/Tender Submission Module is a key part of the e-GP system. It enables electronic bid submission and management, reducing paperwork while promoting fairness and competition.

As part of its stakeholder engagement strategy, the Authority has announced a free online webinar scheduled for June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams. The webinar is open to MDAs, local councils, development partners, donor agencies, contractors, suppliers, consultants, civil society organisations, private sector institutions, and members of the public.

The session will provide an overview of the Bid/Tender Submission Module, showcase the system’s key functionalities, and offer stakeholders an opportunity to interact directly with NPPA technical experts.

Speaking on the initiative, the Director of ICT/e-GP at NPPA stated that the successful implementation of the e-GP system will strengthen public sector governance by improving procurement planning, tender management, bid submission, evaluation, and contract administration through a modern digital platform.

The NPPA has encouraged all stakeholders to participate in the webinar and support the national drive to modernise public procurement in Sierra Leone.

The Salone e-GP System is expected to deliver numerous benefits, including enhanced transparency, improved efficiency, increased competition, better value for money, stronger accountability, reduced costs, improved data management, enhanced service delivery, secure and standardised procurement processes, and greater accessibility for stakeholders nationwide.

The initiative forms part of broader government efforts to leverage digital technology to improve public sector service delivery and strengthen governance systems in Sierra Leone.
