Presidential Spokesman Hon. Alpha Kanu, popularly known as Pa Alpha, has called for increased investment in agro-processing in northern Sierra Leone, stating that President Julius Maada Bio has already “brought the bread” through government agricultural policies, while districts such as Kamakwie and Kabala are expected to produce the “butter and cheese.”
Speaking during an interview on AYV Television, Kanu used the analogy to highlight the government’s vision of adding value to local agricultural production rather than relying on imported products.
He said Kamakwie and Kabala possess the natural resources and agricultural potential needed to support dairy and agro-processing industries, but require investment in factories to process local produce into finished goods such as butter and cheese.
“They say President Bio has brought the bread. Kamakwie and Kabala have what it takes to make the butter. If we don’t invest there, how can they build butter factories, produce cheese, and create other value-added products?” he said.
He added that the establishment of agro-processing facilities would create jobs, strengthen local economies, reduce dependence on imported food products, and improve livelihoods in farming communities.
Kanu’s remarks come as the government continues to promote the Feed Salone initiative, aimed at increasing agricultural production, improving food security, and encouraging value addition through local processing.
He maintained that investment in agro-processing is key to unlocking Sierra Leone’s agricultural potential and supporting long-term economic growth.

This government larks foresight. No factory can run a profitable business relying on generator for its production. Stupid/asshole government. Bunch of thieves masquerading as government.
