Proceedings in the ongoing gold fraud case involving Admire Frances Bio, her husband Dauda “Dausy” Jalloh, and Italian businessman Alfio Siracusa were on Thursday, July 9, 2026, adjourned to July 16 by Magistrate Mustapha Braima-Jah of Court No. 1.

Admire Bio was absent from the scheduled hearing. Her lawyer, Melron Nicol-Wilson, told the court that she was unable to attend due to the recent death of her mother and is currently observing mourning rites. He requested an adjournment to allow her to complete funeral arrangements and assured the court that his client remains committed to participating fully in the proceedings, including cross-examination.

Her husband and co-accused, Dauda Jalloh, was present in court during the hearing.

State Counsel Yusuf Isaac Sesay expressed condolences to the accused but raised concerns over the defence’s earlier description of Admire Bio as “extremely busy,” describing the wording as inappropriate considering the seriousness of the matter. He reminded the court that the case is a preliminary investigation subject to a 28-day statutory timeframe, with much of that period already elapsed, and cautioned against further delays.

Magistrate Braima-Jah acknowledged the circumstances surrounding Admire Bio’s absence but emphasised the importance of complying with the legal timelines governing the proceedings. He subsequently granted a short adjournment to July 16, 2026.

The case involves Admire Bio, Dauda Jalloh, and Alfio Siracusa, and relates to allegations of fraud linked to GAN Minerals Sierra Leone Limited.

The accused are facing multiple charges, including conspiracy to defraud, money laundering, obtaining money by false pretences, forgery, and tax evasion. Prosecutors allege that between August 10 and 14, 2025, the defendants obtained more than $210,000 from victims through false representations about operating a legitimate gold business.

The matter remains before the court as judicial authorities continue proceedings in line with due process.
