The National Tourist Board has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Pius George, Proprietor of Country Side Guest House in the Southern Region.
In a statement, the Board described George as a widely respected pillar of the tourism community whose warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication greatly contributed to the growth and vibrant hospitality of the Southern Region.
The NTB said his remarkable kindness, genuine passion for service, and deep commitment to both visitors and colleagues made him a beloved figure in the industry.
“His remarkable kindness, genuine passion for service, and deep commitment to both visitors and colleagues will be profoundly missed,” the Board stated. “Though he has left us, his legacy of exceptional hospitality and service will continue to inspire us all.”
Mr George was widely known for his hands-on approach to running Country Side Guest House and for mentoring young people in hospitality and customer service across Bo and its environs.
Tourism operators, colleagues, and guests have begun paying tribute to him, describing him as a mentor and a true ambassador for Sierra Leone’s tourism sector.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
