The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has welcomed Ing. Edmond Benjamin Nonie as its newly appointed Deputy Commissioner General 2, citing his extensive experience in engineering, energy policy, investment, innovation, and enterprise development.
Ing. Nonie brings significant public-sector and national development experience to his new role. Before his appointment to the NRA, he served as Deputy Minister of Energy I, where he contributed to several strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening Sierra Leone’s energy sector.
During his tenure at the Ministry of Energy, Ing. Nonie contributed to the Mission 300 Compact and the development of the Productive Use of Energy Policy. He also led the Dry Season Power Procurement and Management Plans for 2024, 2025, and 2026, which focused on improving energy planning, reliability, and access.
His professional experience also extends to the private sector and international development. Before entering public service, he spent four years with the UNICEF Office of Innovation in New York and Stockholm. He also served as an Investment Analyst for the Energy Portfolio at ManoCap LLC in Freetown, where he assessed manufacturing and large-scale hospitality companies for potential solar-asset investments.
His areas of expertise include credit analysis, technical assessment, investment evaluation, due diligence, infrastructure planning, and energy policy.
Ing. Nonie holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Finance, Contracts and Risk Mitigation for Private Power Investment in Africa from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering from Fourah Bay College and is a member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers.
He is also an entrepreneur and co-founder of two small and medium-sized enterprises operating in import, export and logistics, as well as engineering and data science.
The NRA said Ing. Nonie’s combination of technical expertise, strategic leadership, private-sector experience, and public-sector knowledge will bring valuable capacity to the Authority as it continues its work in revenue mobilisation and national development.
The Board and Senior Management Team, together with staff, partners, and taxpayers, congratulated Ing. Nonie on his appointment and wished him success in his new role as Deputy Commissioner General 2.
