Liberian President Boakai Commends IGP Sellu’s Leadership During Visit to Bo City
Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has commended Sierra Leone’s Inspector-General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, for his leadership and efforts to maintain peace and security in the country.
President Boakai made the commendation during his maiden visit to Bo City on Sunday, October 18, 2026. He praised the peaceful atmosphere he experienced while travelling from the Liberian border to Bo, highlighting the importance of effective policing in maintaining law and order.
The commendation came as Sierra Leone and Liberia moved to strengthen bilateral security cooperation through a meeting between IGP Sellu and his Liberian counterpart, Inspector-General of Police Gregory W. Coleman.

The engagement focused on enhancing cooperation between the two police forces, developing joint strategies to combat transnational organised crime, strengthening cross-border security and promoting regional stability.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of professional collaboration and information-sharing in addressing security threats that extend beyond national borders.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by the Sierra Leone Police and the Liberia National Police to deepen their partnership and improve their capacity to respond to emerging security challenges.
President Boakai’s commendation and the bilateral engagement underscore the role of police leadership and cross-border cooperation in promoting peace and security in both countries.
