Sierra Leone is set to host a major ECOWAS Summit from 18–19 July 2026, with about 600 delegates expected to attend the regional gathering, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Musa Kabba.
The summit is expected to bring together Heads of State and Government from ECOWAS member countries, with a large number of leaders already confirming their participation. Organizers say the meeting will be among the largest ECOWAS summits in terms of attendance.
Speaking ahead of the event, Minister Kabba said preparations for the summit have been completed, with arrangements in place for security, transportation, accommodation, and conference facilities to ensure a smooth and successful gathering.
He noted that the arrival of delegates and support teams has increased demand for hotel services across Freetown, with many hotels nearing full occupancy. The development is expected to create economic opportunities for the hospitality, tourism, and service sectors.

The summit also presents an opportunity for Sierra Leone to demonstrate its ability to host major international events and strengthen its position as a destination for regional and global conferences.
Minister Kabba added that the newly established International Conference Centre will play a key role in attracting future high-level meetings, supporting investment opportunities and contributing to the country’s long-term economic growth.
