Sierra Leone’s Embassy in Ankara, Turkey has provided update on another 6.3 magnitude earthquake near the town of Uzunbag in Hatay providence on Monday 20th February 2023 at around 5 p.m. local time, noting that no Sierra Leonean casualty was recorded.
The embassy stated that stated that the incident was immensely felt in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus where many sierra Leonean citizens are studying which they said spread panic among survivors and trapping people under more collapsed buildings.
The Embassy added that the embassy has engaged the president of the Sierra Leonean students in Cyprus and the president of Sierra Leone community in Turkey who confirmed there is no casualty involving any Sierra Leonean.
The embassy promised to keep Sierra Leoneans informed about happenings in Turkey as they continue to observe the situation.
