The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone, Professor David Francis, is on a three-day working visit to the Federal Republic of Brazil on 10-12 April 2023 to build a real cooperation mechanism on a bilateral, as well as multilateral level. a level between the two governments

Professor Francis and his colleagues H.E. Ambassador Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Brazil, held a fruitful bilateral discussion and committed to working together to deepen the relations between Sierra Leone and Brazil, focusing on trade, agriculture, health, and education within the technical cooperation agreement between the Governments of Sierra Leone and Brazil.

They also agreed to continue working together to achieve common priorities in their multilateral agenda.

Recognizing the potential commercial advantage of the geographical proximity of both countries on the other side of the Atlantic, the ministers also discussed ways to take advantage of investment opportunities to increase connectivity through maritime and air transport cooperation.

Following their discussion, the following will be implemented as soon as possible. Also, Reopen the Brazilian embassy in Sierra Leone as soon as possible.

High-Level Visits – Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs will lead a trade delegation of Brazilian business leaders to further explore private sector opportunities in Sierra Leone.

More detailed rules and dates for the exchange of visits at the highest political level, which will be announced through diplomatic channels, were agreed upon.

The Brazilian Cooperation Agency will send a delegation to Sierra Leone for an assessment trip to discuss the areas of human capital development: Education – EFTP; Health; Agriculture and school nutrition.
