French Hip-hop artist Timar has released a new single titled “Sierra Leone”, a track that is quickly gaining attention across major streaming platforms since its debut on 20 November 2025.

The song, which blends rap and melodic storytelling, has already amassed over 600,000 views on YouTube, with the official video drawing hundreds of thousands of plays within days of its release. Music-discovery platforms such as Shazam have also listed the track among Timar’s most-identified songs, signalling rising listener interest.

Although Timar is not Sierra Leonean, the title of the song has caught the attention of audiences in the region. However, there is no confirmed evidence that the single is trending on Sierra Leone’s local music charts or within the country’s entertainment media. Most of the traction appears to stem from international platforms, where the artist has an established following.

Timar, known for singles such as Broken, Vendetta and 4h44, continues to build momentum in the hip-hop scene. “Sierra Leone” is his latest addition, expanding his growing catalogue and sparking curiosity among West African listeners due to its distinct title.

The song focuses on Sierra Leone’s diamonds and how the rich exploits the poor to acquire the gemstones. From the lyrics, Timar affirms that he will not put on a diamond citing the sufferings of child miners in Sierra Leone.

Some of his fans have linked the song as a protest to what’s happening in the mines of DR Congo. They applauded his creativity while supporting his message.

Timar is a French rapper born in Crèteil, a suburb in Paris. The rapper, who started gaining prominence in French rap in 2023, has no known ties to the West African country.
