A Sierra Leone citizen has been apprehended at the international airport in Delhi for attempting to smuggle cocaine worth approximately Le 14 billion into the country.

The arrest was made on June 25 upon the arrival of the accused from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The customs department released a statement revealing that the suspect was flagged for an X-ray scan of their luggage at the green channel by vigilant customs officers.

The said passenger was diverted at the green channel for an X-ray of his baggage by the customs officers on duty,” the customs department said.

During a subsequent medical examination, authorities discovered concealed substances inside the suspect’s body.

Following a medical procedure, a total of 50 oval-shaped capsules containing 930 grams of cocaine were extracted. The estimated value of the seized narcotics amounts to an astounding Le 13.95 billion. The offender was promptly taken into custody.
