Two Guinean women who travelled from Sierra Leone have been arrested at the Katunayake airport in India after customs officials discovered they had swallowed capsules containing cocaine valued at approximately $900,000 (Rs. 80 million).

Authorities in India reported that the women, aged 40 and 42, had ingested nearly two kilograms of cocaine packed into capsules. An abdominal scan revealed they had swallowed around 75 capsules each.

The women arrived on a flight from Sierra Leone and transited through Istanbul, Turkey.

The arrested women are currently in police custody for further investigation.

Officials are seeking court authorization to admit them to a local hospital [hospital name in Sierra Leone] to remove the remaining capsules
