The United 4 Salone Secretariat has received a response from the Rt Hon. Andrew Mitchell, the UK’s Minister of Development and Africa, regarding the country’s past General elections.
It could be recalled that the United 4 Salone had in a letter to Hon Mitchell, questioned the credibility of the conduct and result of the elections, while also expressing serious concerns about the divisive actions of the opposition, as well as unfortunate statements from some international players.
Responding on behalf of the British Government, the Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell, acknowledged their concerns about the opposition party and violence, maintaining that “violence and threats have no place in a democracy”.
The minister further stated that “it was a credit to the people of Sierra Leone that the elections largely passed peacefully”. He established that the UK government is “encouraging dialogue between the (Sierra Leone) government and opposition”, adding that the U.K. government has “urged the opposition to use appropriate channels to raise concerns”. He identified those appropriate channels as “parliament, courts, and the police”.
The Rt Hon. ended the letter by reiterating that “the U.K. remains committed to supporting governance and democracy through their partnership with Sierra Leone”.
As an independent organization that seeks the interest of Sierra Leone and Sierra Leoneans, the United 4 Salone reaffirmed its commitment to peace and unity in Sierra Leone and urged all parties to work together for the country’s development.
I don’t know who “United-4-Salone” are but one thing I’m certain of is that they’ve voiced their concern for our nation, Sierra Leone and the response they received from the Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell is timely and to the point. Government of the UK are not stupid, they know who the trouble makers are in Sierra Leone. Our country needs to get back to work and I will expect all parties to this problem in our country, to get back to work and give peace a chance.
I think the response is apt and well said. You cannot cry over spilled milk. The only forward looking thing is the precedence as it has been a cultural acceptance even in our judicial matters. Most times issues are judged out of precedence. We hope the reforms will be a win for Sierra Leone.

The only thing that can bring peace is when the truth has been said. The Bible says say the truth and the truth we set you free. We don’t need people in this matter who will hide themselves behind their shadow, but in saying the hard fact.
We just need a rerun of election or the actual result of the past election, are we asking much?
Are you asking much ? Well, indeed your ask seems to be irrelevant as majority can view your ignorance side of it. In as much as this election wasn’t and had never been your first, and it’s clearly visible that you and your party had a one year preparation notice ahead of election time and date 📅, there was a 💯 % opportunity (s) at your fingertips to take full control of the situation. But you didn’t and you and your party became procrastinators in your own game that made you wholely relying on foriegn players and interfarance in the our democratic process on your very behalf.
Your manifesto , your campaign strategy, your attitude and character towards other regions , provinces and districts, your ventriloquist or mouthpiece or your foriegn public relation officer (pro) activities were all clear indications that you and your part were hiding something under your sleeves that you relied on that made you not to apply any effort to take take our democratic institution serious, but only to cry faul at the end.
It’s really a disgrace and shame on those international communities that made autrances that was really contrary to the way our democratic process is structured and the way we are currently nurturing peace and cohesion by treading fine line between hatred, brutality and lawlessness .
I couldn’t agree with you more on that mi broda.
And even though our governance is nurturing peace while treading a fine line between hate, corruption , and lawlessness yet the bad players are take advantage. Worst of it all are those considered to be exposed to the outside world are the papitrators of the problem we’re faced in our country, as they’re using their influence and money to get foriegn players to pick their side by project bad images of us and country to the outside world.
We need to have a responsible, accountable , and credible opposition, one with objectivity and constructivity that propels our country and nation forward in this 21st century electronical world we living.
Do you know what it means to rerun a whole general elections? Come on to your senses. Are you not asking for more than too much?
