MODE OF STUDY

The modes of study for all programmes include Regular Students, Extended Students, Distance Students and Online Students options as applicable.

 

  • Regular Students – Attend classes from Monday –Friday (8:00AM-5:00PM). It is open to applicants of all programmes except distance

 

  • Extended Students –Attend classes from Monday-Friday (5:00PM-9:45PM) and Saturday (8:00AM-4:00PM). It is mainly for those in the working class. It is currently open to applicants of Bachelor of Education (with various options) and Bachelor of Science (with options in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Banking and Finance, Social Work and Public Health)

 

  • Distance Students – These are mainly teachers who stay in their respective jobs and attend tutorials during vacation periods. It is currently open to applicants pursuing HTC (Secondary & Primary) and Teachers Certificate at the following locations- Kenema, Bunumbu, Kailahun, Gorama-mende and Kono

 

  • Online Students – Are provided with a rich and interactive virtual learning environment that is available at all times online. This is to commence soonest starting with short term To be advertised later.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

A)   POSTGRADUATE STUDIES (PGD)

Applicants must have a first degree from a well-recognised University including Five (5) subjects with credits at WASSCE in addition to departmental requirements as specified.

B)   UNDERGRADUATE/DEGREE PROGRAMMES

The University’s requirements for the Degree Programmes include:

  • Five (5) WASSCE Credits including English Language in not more than two sittings. In the case of the West Africa Examinations Council Examinations, only grades varying from Al-C6 for WASSCE will be accepted depending on your performance on the interviews. For the Associate Examinations Board (London GCE) only C grade or better is recognized.
  • Holders of HND/HTC with four (4) WASSCE Credits including English Language and/or Mathematics in not more than two sittings as specified by departments/programmes.

In addition, applicants must satisfy faculty and departmental requirements for admission into the various faculties and departments (please see specific entry requirement for your proposed programme).

Applicants should note that some faculties start their Honours Programmes in the 3rd Year provided the candidate meets the desired requirement. All students are admitted into general programmes. To be eligible for the Honours Programme, a student must have a

 

cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.60 at the end of second year. In addition, a student must have scored a minimum average “B” in the core courses to be invited into honours programme.

  • The Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone and the West African Examinations Council have an understanding that those applicants who pay the NLe 500 APPLICATION PROCESSING FEES are no longer entitled to buy WAEC scratch card(s) for result verification. Hence, applicants are to ensure that they correctly enter their WAEC details (Index Number, Year of Examination etc.) where applicable. The system will automatically generate the applicant’s WASSCE result(s). This is applicable to applicants with two sittings as well. Without these your application will not be processed.
  • Applicants are advised to read carefully the requirements for their desired programmes to confirm eligibility.
  • Each Applicant is required to upload every listed credentials on the application form such as: certified copy of result(s), identification card, passport picture, birth certificate/ affidavit, school leaving testimonial, bank payment,
  • Applicants who present forged documents will forfeit their admission upon discovery and handed over to the police.
  • Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone does not require any payment to process admission and does not engage any agent for admission. Prospective students are cautioned not to patronize touts.
  • Dates for Interview and any additional information will be advertised and provided on the website of the Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone, http://www.etusl.edu.sl and/or sent to your email or phone number.
  • The deadline for all application is Friday 27th September
