The Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone (ETU-SL) has rusticated 58 students for one academic year after they were found guilty of examination malpractice and forging examination passes during the First Semester Examinations.
The decision was announced in a Rustication Notice issued by the University’s Registry on 2 July 2026 following investigations conducted by the institution’s Disciplinary Committee.
According to the notice, the committee established that the affected students committed offences related to examination malpractice and the use of forged examination passes, prompting the university to impose disciplinary measures in line with its academic regulations.
As part of the sanctions, the students have been rusticated for the 2025/2026 academic year and are barred from sitting the Second Semester Examinations. The university said the action is intended to uphold academic integrity and reinforce compliance with its examination rules and procedures.
The Registry further instructed all affected students to collect their official letters of rustication from the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Administration) on Monday, 6 July 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
The University’s Public Relations Officer, Augustine Amara Kanneh, reaffirmed ETU-SL’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and preserving the credibility of its examination system.
The disciplinary action serves as a reminder of the university’s zero-tolerance policy on examination-related offences and underscores its determination to ensure fairness, honesty and integrity in the conduct of academic assessments.
