The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education has instructed the University of Sierra Leone Registrar, Olive K. Barrie, to proceed on leave with immediate effect. This decision comes as Ms. Barrie’s contract expired on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024, and an investigation is underway.
According to the Ministry’s statement, Ms. Barrie was asked to step down “pending investigations.” No further details about the nature of the investigation were provided.
In the meantime, Ms. Barrie has been instructed to complete a comprehensive handover note to the Acting Registrar, Mr. Munda J.S. Lebbie. This will ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruption to the university’s operations.
