The West African Examination Council Sierra Leone has released a list of schools that took the 2023 July, Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) without continuous assessment Grades (CASS).
This situation has led to the delay in the publication of the 2023 BECE results, Sierraloaded has learned.
It would be recalled that the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sackey announced that the 2023 BECE results will be released by the end of September.
“I have engaged WAEC with regards to the releasing of the WASSCE and BECE Results, for WASSCE, I was told it will be released by the end of this week or mid-next week. For the BECE result, we are anticipating it by the end of this month,” he said on 12 September 2023 during the weekly Press Conference organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education.
However, days after the promised timeline, there has been no information on its release, creating more room for concerns by students, parents, and educators alike.
Sierraloaded understands that the delay in releasing the results is not unconnected to the failure of some schools to submit the CASS grades for their students.
At least 30 schools are yet to submit the CASS grades according to the list made available to Sierraloaded. The schools are shown below:
The heads of those schools that are involved need to act fast.
