The High Commission of India has handed over air tickets and visas to the second batch of Sierra Leonean students selected for the prestigious Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The students will travel to India to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes at leading Indian universities under the fully funded scholarship scheme sponsored by the Government of India.
The High Commission said the scholarship programme reflects India’s continued commitment to supporting higher education and human capital development in Sierra Leone while strengthening the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
According to the High Commission, the Government of India, through the ICCR, offers 50 fully funded scholarships annually to Sierra Leonean students, providing opportunities to study across a wide range of academic disciplines.
The selected students are expected to benefit from quality education and cultural exchange during their studies, while also serving as ambassadors of the enduring partnership between India and Sierra Leone.
The High Commission wished the students success in their academic pursuits and expressed confidence that they would contribute meaningfully to strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations upon their return.
