Young Sierra Leonean Female Public Health and International Human Rights Lawyer, Eunice Naffie Mustapha is seeking financial assistance from the Public after been admitted to pursue a Master of Laws Degree at New York University (NYU) .
According to Mustapha, School starts in August 2024, and the total cost of attendance is $113,804. However, the legal luminary has already acquired $30,000; this is a call to help raise the rest!
She revealed that she has seen so many young people abandon their goals because of difficult processes but she want her NYU journey, to inspire young Sierra Leoneans to go in for dreams they previously considered impossible
Born during Sierra Leone’s 11-year civil war and grew up in a country consistently facing economic hardship, she saw people struggling to access good health care and other necessities like electricity and clean drinking water.
Mustapha is passionate in sexual reproductive health and rights, global health, the right to health, national health, and quality health care.
“I have been drawn to problem-solving and the power of learning since childhood. I chose education as my magical tool in addressing problems affecting society! I attained my JD equivalent degree (LL.B Hons) with distinction (first class) at age 23, passed my bar exams as one of the top 5 students in Sierra Leone at age 24, and became a public health lawyer (LL.M in National and Global Health Law) at age 25. With a Master of Laws from NYU, I aim to attain additional technical training to study the intersection between public health and economic advancement to influence policymaking processes in developing countries,” she stated.
she served as the country consultant of Women First Digital in Sierra Leone, which focuses sexual reproductive health and rights. She is also the executive director of Strong Girls’ Evolution, which works on the personal development of young female Sierra Leoneans. In addition, she served as a camp marshall at the National Girls’ Camp hosted by Sia Nyama Koroma, the former First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone. She previously was a legal intern at Marrah and Associates, a law firm in Sierra Leone. She is also a writer and chief executive officer of Nafisa Media Limited.
Mustapha was an orange belt holder and the head girl of the Annie Walsh Memorial School, the oldest girls school in Sub-Saharan Africa. She holds an LL.B Hons. at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone (First Class Honors). At Fourah Bay College, she was awarded for participation in Interdepartmental Debate Competition, for excellent performance in Law of Torts, and for Academic Excellence.
She has been awarded three times for 50 Most Influential Sierra Leonean Women Awards and twice by Kids Advocacy Network for humanitarian work.
