Limkokwing University Sierra Leone has signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s digital transformation agenda and expanding opportunities for young Sierra Leoneans in the technology and innovation space.

The agreement establishes a structured framework for collaboration between the two institutions in key areas including training, internships, research, and innovation programming. It is intended to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry experience, ensuring that graduates are better prepared for the demands of the modern workforce.

Under the MoU, Limkokwing University Sierra Leone and DSTI will work closely to align academic programmes with national digital initiatives, enabling students to contribute meaningfully to government-led technology projects and policy implementation processes. The partnership is expected to produce a pipeline of digitally skilled graduates capable of supporting Sierra Leone’s growing innovation ecosystem.

The collaboration also builds on a track record of engagement in which Limkokwing students and alumni have already participated in DSTI-related projects. Both institutions say this experience provides a strong foundation for scaling up cooperation and formalising pathways that connect education with national development priorities.

By consolidating this relationship, the MoU seeks to deepen industry-academia collaboration and promote practical learning opportunities that translate into employment, entrepreneurship, and broader technological capacity-building across the country.

Officials from both institutions emphasised that the agreement reflects a shared vision of preparing a new generation of digitally fluent professionals who can actively contribute to Sierra Leone’s transformation agenda.

Students and young innovators have been encouraged to follow official communication channels from Limkokwing University Sierra Leone and DSTI for updates on upcoming training programmes, internship opportunities, and innovation challenges.

The partnership is widely seen as a strategic step toward positioning Sierra Leone’s youth at the centre of the country’s digital future, with a focus on inclusivity, skills development, and long-term economic impact.
