The results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2023 in Sierra Leone are expected to be released in the last week of September according to the Minister for Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sacky.
Speaking in a recent press conference, Sacky said, “I have engaged WAEC with regards to the releasing of the WASSCE and BECE Results, for WASSCE, I was told it will be released by the end of this week or mid-next week. For the BECE result, we are anticipating it by the end of this month,”
The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is administered to school candidates in the third year of Senior High School and to private candidates. The examination is for both selection to tertiary institutions and for certification confirming graduation from secondary education. It is administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
243,000 students took the WASSCE 2023 examinations in Sierra Leone earlier in May. They include 115,033 males and 128,170 females.
Once the results are released, there will be a delay at the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) before they reach the respective schools. However, candidates can check their results online or by using the MBSSE SMS result checker.
How to Check 2023 WASSCE Results Online
Meanwhile, below is an easy step to step guide on how candidates can check for their 2023WASSCE results:
- ▪️Firstly, Login to WAEC Result Checker Website – https://www.waecsierra-leone.org/ResultChecker/
- ▪️Secondly, enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number, e.g. 4123456789).
- ▪️Thirdly, enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year, e.g. 2023.
- ▪️Fourthly, select the Type of Examination, e.g., May/June.
- ▪️Fifthly, enter the Scratch Card (E-pin) Number.
- ▪️Lastly, click Submit and wait for the results window to open.
NOTE: Always input an email address so that the result will be forwarded to that email for printing.
How to Check 2023 WASSCE Results Via SMS
- ▪️To check your result via SMS, text RESULT to 468.
- ▪️Select option 3 for WASSCE.
- ▪️Enter your Candidate number and submit.
- ▪️Wait for your WASSCE result.
