The Stand-Up Comedians of Sierra Leone have issued an official statement disassociating themselves from Comedian Faculty over what they describe as misleading claims regarding his alleged appointment as the “Acting President” of the industry.
In a strongly worded release, the comedians’ body refuted the social media reports, labeling them as “false, misleading, and deceptive.” They stressed that Comedian Faculty’s self-proclaimed leadership position is entirely fabricated and does not represent the industry’s structure or leadership.
“This is our first official statement addressing the issue of the so-called ‘acting presidency’ that Comedian Faculty is falsely asserting.
As a unified body of stand-up comedians, we want to inform the general public that he is misrepresenting himself and misleading others by falsely claiming the presidency of our industry,” the statement read.
The group expressed concerns that such misinformation could undermine the credibility and reputation of Sierra Leone’s stand-up comedy sector, which has worked diligently to establish a professional and disciplined identity. They warned that they would not tolerate actions that jeopardize the integrity of their craft.
As a consequence of Comedian Faculty’s actions, the comedians’ body announced three major disciplinary measures:
- Total Disassociation – All ties with Comedian Faculty and his brand will be severed. Furthermore, guest comedians will be barred from participating in his events or any related activities.
-
Legal Action – The body will pursue legal measures against him for impersonation and misrepresentation.
-
Industry Ban – Comedian Faculty will face a minimum three-year ban from all stand-up comedy groups in Sierra Leone.
The statement, endorsed by the Sierra Leone Association of Comedians (SLAC) and the Stand-Up Comedians of Sierra Leone.
