Lahai Ndoko, CEO of the Gbamgbaode Festival, has vehemently refuted widespread rumors circulating on social media alleging that Nigerian TikTok sensation and social media influencer Jarvis was paid a substantial sum of $52,000 for a school tour in Sierra Leone.

Speaking out against the claims, Ndoko stated unequivocally that the information is “100% false.” He clarified that Jarvis’s visit is an integral part of his company’s annual school tour initiative, now in its third year.

Ndoko explained that the annual school tour is designed to educate young people on the significance of social media. Previous editions have focused on crucial topics such as Mental Health Awareness and Cyberbullying.

This year’s tour, featuring Jarvis, aims to demonstrate to students how she generates income through social media platforms and to provide them with valuable insights into potentially leveraging these platforms themselves.

Addressing the question of why his company frequently collaborates with international figures for these events, Ndoko highlighted the significant online presence these individuals possess. He also expressed concern that Sierra Leoneans often fail to present a positive image of their country online. Ndoko emphasized that these collaborations between foreign and local personalities are strategically aimed at increasing visibility for Sierra Leone.

Ndoko urged Sierra Leoneans to focus on promoting the positive aspects of their nation and to reconsider their skepticism towards bringing in foreign acts. He drew a parallel to Sierra Leoneans seeking opportunities abroad, referencing actor Peter Komba’s current success in the Nigerian film industry.
