Mary Yongai has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the most cosmetic makeovers in 24 hours by a single artist, achieving 111 makeovers and surpassing the previous record of 96 set in 2005.

Yongai, a renowned makeup artist, attempted the record-breaking feat in May 2024 at the Bintumani Car Park in Freetown. Initially aiming for 100 makeovers, she exceeded her target, completing a total of 111 makeovers during the 24-hour period. The event drew participants from various institutions, including local celebrities, who gathered to support and cheer her on.

Despite taking only a single 20-minute break, Yongai pushed through until the end of the challenge. Exhausted, she fainted immediately after completing the record attempt but was revived shortly afterward.

This achievement marks the second Guinness World Record for Sierra Leone, following the largest Sampa dance held in 2012 at the National Stadium in Freetown.

Yongai’s feat not only showcases her exceptional skill but also brings global recognition to Sierra Leone’s growing presence in the world of record-breaking achievements.
