Motivational messages have been sent to Sierra Leoneans both at home and abroad as 2022 has clocked in and the new year has barely begun. In Sierra Leone, the first day of the month and a few days after it were largely filled with joyous moments. Friends and family members compliment and pray for one another.

Baimba Moiforay professionally known as LAC on this very month last year was among the lucky inmates that were given presidential pardon by the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Brigadier (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio. After enjoying the true meaning of freedom after spending years in the Pademba Road Correctional Centre, LAC took to his Facebook to thank the Almighty for his blessings provided all this while.

With a grateful mind he posses, LAC owes these thanks and appreciation to the fact that many have been hospitalized and others could not make it to this year and have been buried. LAC went on offering prayers of benevolence to each and every Sierra Leonean.

LAC advised Sierra Leoneans to let go of their old habits and embrace growth in order to better oneself and the country in the final paragraph of his New Year’s speech. This, it is claimed, came about as a result of social media brawls and disagreements between Sierra Leoneans over issues that weren’t worth fighting for.

LAC followed by stating that there are various human breeds in the country he refers to as his motherland. This is due to the fact that, unlike other African nations like Nigeria, Sierra Leoneans engage in angry social media chitchat and disparaging language directed at one another instead of using the internet to promote and advertise their country.

“Nigerians are using social media to buy houses and develop themselves, but we are using it to abusive each other. Please Sierra Leoneans be wise and advise yourself as we only have about 7 million population. If we hate each other who then will trust to love us…..” LAC narrated.
