Minister of Youth Affairs Ibrahim Sannoh has taken a dynamic step to promote youth empowerment and elevate Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry by convening a high-energy roundtable with some of the nation’s top entertainers.
The meeting brought together notable figures including Entertainment Ambassador Kao Denero, Colabo, Kracktwist, Artical Foyoh, and Mohamed B. Bayoh who also serves as the Entertainment Youth Coordinator among others.
The roundtable focused on strategies to propel Sierra Leonean music onto the global stage. Minister Sannoh revealed that discussions are already underway with the Managing Director of Trace, one of the world’s leading music platforms, to secure a platform for Sierra Leonean music videos.

“This initiative is not just about music,” Minister Sannoh said. “It’s about branding Sierra Leone to the world through the creativity of our young people. Our beats, our voices, our talent deserve international recognition. Trace is only the beginning we are opening doors for Sierra Leone to shine.”
Artists at the meeting welcomed the announcement with enthusiasm. Kao Denero described the initiative as “a game-changer,” noting, “For too long, we’ve been hustling to get our music noticed internationally. If Trace opens the door, Sierra Leonean music will surely take center stage.” Prezo Colabo added, “This is history in the making! The government is finally giving the industry the push it needs, and we as artists must rise to the occasion.”

In addition to international promotion, Minister Sannoh highlighted two upcoming flagship events designed to empower youth. The Mano River Union Youth Conekt 2025, scheduled for October in Sierra Leone, will spotlight young talent and encourage cross-border collaboration. Meanwhile, the country’s first-ever Youth Festival, set for December, will celebrate music, arts, and culture while raising funds to support programs for young people battling drug addiction.
“Entertainment is not just about fun,” the Minister emphasized. “It’s also a tool for healing, empowerment, and nation-building. Through this festival, we aim to provide support and hope for young people trapped in drugs, giving them a chance at a new life.”

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment between the Ministry and the entertainers to continue pushing Sierra Leone’s creative industry to new heights, marking a bold step toward global recognition for the nation’s youth and talent.
