Sierra Leonean rapper Shadow Boxxer has publicly endorsed “Sal Vybez,” the industry anthem spearheaded by Ambassador Kao Denero, describing the track as “fire.”
The endorsement comes as the sound continues to gain traction locally. In a statement, Shadow Boxxer said he would have openly criticized the track had it fallen short.
“Salute to you Ambassador. Truth be told, if the ‘Sal Vibez’ beat bin for wack I woulda said something about that privately in my circles or depending on the climate publicly even. But it’s fire,” he said. “Regardless of the how and the who, this is what your leadership and direction produced. Nice wan.”
When asked whether he would feature on the sound, he responded, “INSHAALLAH! Me voice dae pan heal right now IYKYK nor go explain why.”
Sal Vybez was initiated by Kao Denero in consultation with key entertainment stakeholders. The sound blends traditional Sierra Leonean genres such as bubu and kaylain to reflect the country’s cultural identity.
The sound was validated on February 13, 2026, during the Entertainment Policy Workshop hosted by the Office of the Ambassador of Entertainment at Cacao Resort in Kailahun District. The event brought together producers, sound engineers, artists, and industry stakeholders from across the country to shape Sierra Leone’s sonic identity.
Since its introduction, several top Sierra Leonean musicians, including Samza, Bakitenno, Jakey Jake, Speedo’o, and Mawings, have released tracks on the sound. Sal Vybez is currently trending, with more artists signaling their intent to join. The sound is produced by Mic Junho.
