Sierra Leonean rapper Shadow Boxxer has issued a strong and direct response to comments made by singer Kontri Boss during a recent interview, pushing back against criticism over a list of top artists and accusing the singer of being ungrateful and overly emotional.
In a public statement circulating on social media, Shadow Boxxer addressed Kontri Boss – whom he referred to as “Eddie” – and made it clear that there was no personal dispute between them. He explained that he could not remember the specific studio session Kontri Boss referred to in his interview but said that did not change his long-held respect for the singer’s talent.
“You’re good. You’re really good,” Shadow Boxxer said. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You’re a dope writer and singer. One of the dopest we have.”
Shadow Boxxer described Kontri Boss’ absence from his earlier list of notable singers as an “oversight,” adding that other respected artists were also left out. He mentioned Jah The Element, Khalid Fysal, Blakka P, Alim Kamara and other lyricists, stressing that the list was never meant to be definitive or authoritative.
“Khalid, in my opinion, is the best vocalist I’ve ever heard,” he said. “It was the same kind of oversight not mentioning Blakka P or Alim Kamara or other MCs with fire lyrics. But they are not out here crying.”
The rapper emphasized that the list was a personal and spontaneous opinion, not an official ranking or a directive from any authority. “I wasn’t ordered by the government or by God to make a list,” he said. “I woke up, saw that Tasha made a list and thought, ‘Oh nice, let me make one.’”
In his most pointed remarks, Shadow Boxxer criticized what he described as Kontri Boss’ public posture of humility. He accused the singer of masking frustration and ingratitude behind spiritual language.
“You give this ‘I’m humble, waiting for my turn’ vibe,” Shadow Boxxer said, “but in reality you’re ungrateful for where you are and for what God has already done for you.”

Responding directly to Kontri Boss’ reported statement in Krio, “Ah dae na me corner, e must happen how God want am for mek e happen,” Shadow Boxxer translated the idea into a sharper rebuke. He said, “This is how God wants it to happen-exactly where we are now. God does not need to change for a different outcome to happen. You do.”
He ended his response by urging Kontri Boss to stop complaining and focus on making music. “Stop the crying and whining,” he said. “Be quiet and just give us hit songs like I know you are capable of.”
