Born and bred in Makeni, Mohamed Oseh Beckley Turay is a parking valet at NP car park, Azzolini Highway, Makeni. Oseh and other parking attendants hustle and bustle for passengers all day long.
Over the years, after he began to smoke Kush, Oseh’s life fell from the apogee and track of success to the bottomless pit of hardship, leading him into the mud of failure.
Mohamed Oseh Beckley Turay was born in a polygamous family. His father, who was a civil servant, had three wives and eight children. Oseh attended the United Methodist Church (UMC), Fullah Town, where he obtained his high school leaving certificate (WASSCE). Adhering to his father’s advice, Oseh opted to read Computer Science at the University of Makeni. It was, however, a three-year diploma course.
Approximately 18 months after he had gained university admission, Oseh dropped out of course, following his father’s inability to pay his fees. “When it dawned on me that my father could no longer afford to pay my fees nor give me fare to campus, l decided to drop out of course. This was after he had lost his job,” Mohamed Oseh Beckley Turay said.
Before he left the University, where he was pursuing a course in Computer Science, Oseh had rubbed shoulders with his colleague students who introduced him to Kush. “I was only smoking marijuana before l entered university. Later, my friends, whom l met on campus, led me to the hell of Kush,” Oseh said.
During lunch or sometimes after classes, Oseh and his friends would head to ghettos, where the better parts of their days would be spent. Like harmattan bushfire, Oseh hastily got addicted to smoking Kush. According to him, peer group influence left his life floating on the whirlpool of drug abuse and hanging on the wall of severe suffering.
Like other victims, Kush has inserted a wide range of effects on Oseh, derailing him from chatting a beautiful life. “While growing up, l was considered an expert in digital gadgets. I could flash and unlock mobile phones. It was on that note that my father advised me to do Computer Science. He thought l would be a computer genius. But here l am today loading vehicles,” Oseh said. Kush has, among many other things, disfigured Oseh, pushed him to the limelight of stigmatization and dragged him into doing odd jobs.
With deep consciousness of his taking Kush, which has turned his life upside down, Oseh has decided to turn in a new leaf and chase a better future for himself. With that in mind, Oseh revealed to this medium that he is ready to learn technical skills, provided if he has a sponsor. “At this point in my life, if l had the chance (l mean financial support), l would learn technical skills. They will, at least, help me in 10 or 15 years later,” Oseh said.
According to Oseh, before the ugly transformation of his life, after he dug his future in the well of Kush, he had written many songs. He furthered that he was best known for entertainment and computing. “I have an untapped potential,” he said.
During an interview with Sierraloaded, Mohamed Oseh Beckley Turay seized the opportunity to advise young men and women, especially those who haven’t tasted Kush, to steer clear of the synthetic drug. He emphasized that the drug has the power of reducing an already-made person to nothing.
