As a distinguished expert in gender and global public policy, writer, businesswoman, psychologist, and champion of women’s and girls’ rights, Madam Naasu Genevieve Fofanah has devoted her life to fighting for women’s empowerment and making a lasting impact in different fields.
Madam Nansu had a vision of empowering women through financial inclusion. And she has gone all and beyond to prove that her vision isn’t just a mere dream. As the founder and CEO of Susue Consultancy/Susue Women’s Finance, Madam Naasu enabled collaborations with the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank and the Women’s Bank Initiative to offer affordable loans to women business owners, especially amid the COVID-19 crisis. She also showed her enterprising nature by growing Susue into a food brand, making products like Chilli coconut oils and Wanjama Pemahun.
Despite the pandemic, she pursued her dream of setting up a Women’s Bank. She rallied the Market Women Sierra Leone to support her in this worthy cause. She co-led the Bank of Sierra Leone Financial Literacy Working Group and pushed for legal changes to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.
