Over a dozen have been left homeless after a fire outbreak at a house of ten rooms with apartments homing more than 12 People at 1 Koleh Lane off kingpalma, Port Loko City.

The ugly incident which occurred on the 8th February 2024, left many families in tears as they lost properties including physical cash of 25million.

In an interview with this medium, Santigie A B Mansaray,  a resident and family head of one wife and three children who has been a tenant in the house since 2014, expressed grief over the unfortunate situation, stating that he lost a fortune to the fire.

” I lost 25 million Leones Wich I earned through Susu savings and plan to start the construction of my private house.” Cried Mansaray.

He went on to complain about the hard times they are facing as a family pointing that they lost all their properties including their children’s school materials.

“My wife has been crying all this while but I have been consoling her to bear with the trying moment of our life.” Mansaray added.

Another victim, Fatmata Sulaiman Kamara, a business woman with a family of eight, shared similar bitter experience recounting the horrible incident. She tearfully informed that she lost everything as she wasn’t around when the fire started.

“I was just called from my business place before I could arrive at the scene, everything had burnt to ashes.” She stated.

The victims pleaded for assistance to help begin their devastated family settlement. According to them, all efforts made to assertain the source of the fire proved futile.

Meanwhile, no casualty on individuals has been recorded but demand for fire force service in Port Loko is highly increasing as there are many similar cases in and around the municipality.
