ACC Indicts WAEC Employee And WASSCE Candidate on Exam Malpractice And Corruption Charges

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has indicted Salam Salim Sheriff, a Computer Programmer at the West African Examination Council (WAEC), and Aminata Kamara of undisclosed address on three counts of corruption offences.

The charges include Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, Engaging in Academic Malpractice, and Abuse of Office, as stipulated under Sections 128(1), 128(3), and 42(1) respectively of the Anti-Corruption Act No.12 of 2008, amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.

According to the particulars of offence, Salam Salim Sheriff and Aminata Kamara, on a date unknown between the 1st June 2019 and the 31st May 2021, at Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired with other unknown persons to change the grades in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2020 Examination Result of Aminata Kamara, a candidate in the said Examination, conducted by WAEC.

Salam Salim Sheriff is scheduled to appear in the High Court of Sierra Leone in Freetown on February 22nd, 2024, to face the charges. Meanwhile, Aminata Kamara remains at large and will be tried in absentia under the provisions of Section 89(7)(a) of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.

The ACC reaffirms its commitment to combatting corruption in Sierra Leone and assures the public of its ongoing efforts to uphold transparency and integrity in all spheres of governance.

This is Sierra Leone where an accused teacher of exam malpractice is publicly name and shame in the central Freetown but an accused IT programmer of changing grades is invited to court for questioning What a country God help us.

Oh what's a life! Salam Salim kamara am so sorry for you and I am asking Allah to help you in facing your trial in the of " by God i pawa". Mr acc commissioner, please 🙏with due your respect, as you change your mind for government personalities not to disclose their assets publicly, please do the same here. Uh!
