In a breakthrough, the Mile 91 Magistrate Court has committed alleged notorious drug trafficker Mohamed Kamara, alias “China”, and his accomplice, Mohamed Koroma, to stand trial before the High Court for unlawful possession of prohibited drugs.

The duo was arrested on February 20, 2026, at Mile 91 Junction in Yoni Mamalia Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, with thirty-seven wraps of suspected kush (opium) and a quantity of cannabis sativa, commonly known as “jamba”.

Magistrate Harold Kamara ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the accused, citing evidence from police witnesses, physical exhibits, and confessional statements.

The court noted that the accused had been found with prohibited substances without lawful authority, contravening Section 8(a) of the National Drug Control Act No. 10 of 2008.

The matter has been adjourned to the High Court, where the accused will face trial. They are currently being held at the Moyamba Correctional Centre pending their appearance before the High Court of Justice.

The prosecution is being led by Sub-Inspector I. F. Bangura on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.

The case has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for swift and severe punishment for those involved in the illicit drug trade.
