The Income Tax Board of Appellate Commissioners, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, held a sensitisation session in Makeni to educate stakeholders on tax appeal procedures.
Chairman Francis Peter Amara Esq. explained the session aimed to inform taxpayers about their rights to challenge income tax and goods and services tax (GST) assessments conducted by the National Revenue Authority (NRA).
The sensitisation, which targets six districts including Kono, Port Loko, Kambia, Bo, and Kenema, focuses on teaching taxpayers the steps to file appeals.
Chairman Amara highlighted the commission’s mandate to provide a fair platform for resolving tax disputes and expressed plans to expand nationwide, particularly for business owners, depending on available funding.
Gibril Amitab Kamara, Regional Chairman of Sierra Leone Traders Union North, commended the initiative for providing essential information to members.
The commission encourages the public to file complaints when needed to ensure transparency in tax-related matters.
