Babadi Kamara, the Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club and a leading contender for the upcoming Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Presidential elections, has made a significant financial contribution to the Kono District Football Association (KDFA).

Kamara donated NLe 40,500 to support the district’s ongoing football activities, marking yet another boost for grassroots football development in the region.

Abu Bakar Mansaray, Chairman of KDFA, expressed profound gratitude for Kamara’s generous donation, noting that the funds will be used to support the district’s ongoing football league.

The donation is a timely intervention, especially as the league progresses under Mansaray’s administration, which has been committed to reviving football in the district since his tenure began.

“This is a remarkable gesture from Babadi Kamara, who has continuously shown his commitment to the development of football in Sierra Leone,” Mansaray said. “His support will significantly aid our efforts in organizing the district league and nurturing young talent in Kono.”

Under Mansaray’s leadership, KDFA has seen the organization of various competitions, including under-12, under-14, and under-15 tournaments, chiefdom-level competitions, Division 1 and 2 leagues, and female football initiatives. The ongoing district league, which features 21 participating clubs, has generated excitement in Kono, with Golden Soccer Academy and Soccer King set to face off in the final on October 20th, 2024.

Secretary General of KDFA, Komba Kelvin Kembay, also thanked Kamara for his consistent support, noting that this is not the first time Kamara has contributed to the district’s football development.

“His financial assistance has come at a crucial time, and we are committed to ensuring that the funds are used efficiently to enhance the league’s success,” Kembay stated.

Local football enthusiasts have praised Kamara’s continued dedication to football, not just in Kono but across Sierra Leone. His efforts are seen as pivotal in revitalizing the sport and providing young players with the opportunities to develop their skills and compete at higher levels.

With Kamara’s ongoing involvement in football and his vision for the sport’s future, the people of Kono are optimistic about the continued growth of football in the district and the potential for even greater achievements in the coming years.
