Bai Sebora Kasangha Primary School in Robombeh Community, Bombali District, calls for urgent help as it grapples with crumbling infrastructure and a severe lack of furniture.

Serving approximately 200 pupils, Bai Sebora Kasangha Primary School is faced with challenges that affect both the quality of education and the safety of its pupils.

The serious dearth of a conducive learning environment at the school has forced majority of its pupils to transfer to other schools that are many miles away from the community.

This situation has also compelled some parents to send their children to the farm to assist them instead of allowing them go to school.

When Sierraloaded visited Bai Sebora Kasangha Primary School yesterday, it observed that the school lacks not only building and furniture but also toilet for both teachers and pupils of the school.

In an exclusive interview, the head of the school, Jariatu Bangura, said the challenges hit even the teachers, especially those who travel from Makeni to Robombeh Community every schooling day just to impart knowledge in the pupils.

“Most of our teachers are not on government payroll. However, they travel from Makeni to this place just to teach our pupils. Looking at their constraints – ranging from transport fare, lack of learning resources to the drastic reduction in the number of pupils, some have stopped coming, ” The head of the school, Jariatu Bangura, said.

Bangura added that the dilapidated nature of the classrooms and the lack of furniture affect teaching and learning in the school.

“As you can see, the classes are transparent Pupils in other classes can see and hear what is happening in the next class. This, of course, affects teaching and learning in this school. Most of them, in fact, pay attention to other classes, while ignoring lessons taught in their own classes, ” she told Sierraloaded.

Founded in 2020, Bai Sebora Kasangha Primary School has been the cornerstone of education in Robombeh Community. Notwithstanding, the school’s deteriorating structure is in dire need of maintenance. The school needs immediate assistance if it must continue to provide learning environment for pupils.
