The Benevolent Secondary School in Makeni has reportedly been set ablaze in what sources allege was an act of arson by some students angered over recent poor examination results.
Eyewitness accounts claim the incident occurred following the release of results that showed what has been described as a “massive failure” among students. Reports indicate that certain students, frustrated by the outcome, allegedly targeted the school in retaliation.

Local resident Nisho Sesay, commenting on the matter, expressed that he had long feared such an incident might occur.
“I knew this would happen one day. Since the time they handed over the principalship to Salam, massive failure started. I was there when they gave him the position. We fought to remove him but no way. See what he has caused the great school to now,” Sesay remarked.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage. It is also unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The teacher that said they fought hard to remove the appointed principal must be investigated
Mr Sesay should be investigated seriously floowing the fire incident at MBSS
That named teacher who said that they were not happy with the appointment of Salam as a principal , must be arrested and investigated , he sounds to be an accomplice , and by extension have a malice at fore thought for Mr Salam.
Nisho sesay is a key suspect as he said he knew such would happen and he also declare himself as one of those that were unhappy over the appointment of Mr Abdul Salam Conteh,so he might be involved in instigating student to do such.
This is an undone act by that so-called Nisho Sesay who showed his disatisfactory comment towards the principal Salam leadership after the cause of the incident and need to be investigated by the C.I.D please.
He uttered a costly statement that indicates conspiracy.Nasho should be thoroughly investigated as far as this matter is concerned total wickedness
This is undone. This is not the proper way to handle the matter of massive failure in public exams . I knew Benevolent school, the school used to perform very well in public exams around 2008 to 2010. It was one of the best schools in Makeni. I really wonder what had happened lately.
In conclusion, Mr. Sesay needs to be investigated. He sounds to be known the roots cause of the problem.
This is an outdated and barbaric act that is not call for in the society how on earth can you do such is the structure the one who failed you or yourself. The agrived pupils are the ones who rely on malpractice
I know it’s because the principal is strict that’s why
Let the law take it cause on the defaulters
For my own POV, I blamed the government.
It is the government who have made the students not to be afraid of teachers again. Can you imagine, how can the government passed a law that no teacher should flog students despite what offenses the student may do. This law has made teachers no longer do hot-mentals in schools, for fear of being arrested. Students have used this law as a yardstick to be doing all sorts of rubbish, coming to school late, putting on the wrong schools attires, causing noise while teaching, and even fighting teachers in the schools.
I saw a video the last time when a teacher was threatened to be jailed simply because he disciplined a student. The teacher was molested in front of his students. What kind of rubbish law is this? So even if the student abuses the teacher, he should not be flogged, Hmmm
Let this message reach the highest authority that this law must be abolished.
Let there be great respect for teachers.
