Police from the Waterloo Division have arrested a man accused of attempting to sell his nephew to ritualists for 150 million old Leones (NLe 150,000).
The boy, whose identity remains undisclosed for safety reasons, is now under police protection.
The uncle, from Pujehun District, reportedly sought to sell the child, but was arrested with the help of the intended buyer, who cooperated with the police.
The buyer, whose identity remains hidden, contacted authorities after being approached by the suspect. The uncle is currently being held at the Waterloo Police Division (post office) as police continue their investigation.
In a related incident, a father in Bo City has also been caught on camera negotiating the sale of his own son for the same sum of money. The disturbing video, shared by Gleaner Newspaper, shows the father attempting the transaction without his wife’s knowledge. The buyer claimed to represent higher-ups who supplied the funds for the sale.
The investigations are ongoing as the police work to bring all parties involved to justice.
Proper investigation must be done and continue with life impressment in order to stop such act.
