The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has commended Ezekiel Wallace, a Sierra Leonean residing in Canada, for his significant contribution to education in the remote Mabombom Village.

Chief Education Officer, Edward Kpakra, led an MBSSE delegation to the village to acknowledge Wallace’s efforts in establishing a community secondary school, providing much-needed educational access to a hard-to-reach area in the Bombali district.

Wallace’s initiative includes the construction of the school building, payment of stipends to volunteer community teachers, provision of teaching and learning materials, and distribution of school uniforms to the students.

“We as a community are very happy to hear that the Ministry of Education came to visit,” said Pa Alimamy Conteh, section chief of Mabombom Village, expressing gratitude for Wallace’s support.

CEO Kpakra emphasized that Wallace’s work aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s Human Capital Development drive, which aims to provide education for every child. “This is a very impressive effort given to a community by one of the products of the said community,” Kpakra noted.

Ezekiel Wallace, the proprietor of the Mabombom Village Secondary School, expressed his commitment to further expanding educational opportunities by building more schools in other communities.

The MBSSE delegation, which included the Director of School Quality Assurance, the Director of Curriculum Development and Research, the Ministry’s Deputy Secretary, and the Deputy Director of Education in Bombali District, witnessed firsthand the impact of Wallace’s contribution.
